During the month of December 2006, His Excellency the Royal Danish Ambassador to Kenya Mr. Bo Jensen signed a Kshs. 210 million grant funding with the Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust under the Business Sector Programme Support (BSPS). MESPT will in this programme implement component 2.2 which is on "increased accessibility to and availability of financial services to growth oriented enterprises". Mr. Peter Munga the Chairman signed on behalf of the MESPT Board of Trustees while his Excellency the Ambassador signed on behalf of the Government of Denmark.

The signing of this agreement was a major landmark in the development of MESPT having earlier in the year (16th June 2006), signed another grant funding to the tune of Kshs 150 Million for the implementation of the rural finance component under the Agriculture Business Developement Component of ASPS. In this earlier collaboration, MESPT will provide agriculture asset finance and production loans available in 7 districts in Coast (Kwale, Kilif, Malindi and Taita Taveta) and Eastern (Kitui, Makueni and Mwingi) provinces. MESPT assures DANIDA and the people of Kenya that these resources will be utilized in a transparent and accountable manner.
